Hi, I’m David O’Connor, welcome to my website

I have been singing for as long as I can remember and recently, after a short hiatus, I’m back at the microphone. I have lived a very exciting life so far – sometimes with life-changing consequences. My early and promising racing jockey career was harshly terminated when I broke my back after a bad fall. I recovered and whilst I still ride out horses, I’ll never be a professional jockey. I tried my hand as a racing trainer which I loved but my timing was off. Racing may be the sport of kings but it is a tough career choice in a recession – in fact an impossible one!

I have returned time and again to singing. In 2004, I represented Ireland in the World Karaoke Championships in Finland and came sixth. In 2008, I entered the Irish television show ‘You’re A Star!’ and to my surprise and great delight, I won the competition and a recording contract. Still, life is not always a straight path. For some years after my win I stopped singing, at least I stopped singing professionally. I was caught up in the world of training and horses. It is very hard to be master of two trades at the same time. My love for horses is so strong I really wanted to keep on working with them.

So, here I am back singing again. I feel my voice has matured over the years and I come back to singing with a real pleasure and enthusiasm! My great friends Pat Cushe and Tony Ryan are with me every step of the way and I look forward to singing more, travelling more and recording more. I’m back!
